Mos def, because they rarely played anything off of that album and it was a Bob and Scott staple in college.
Also, “Keep it Like A Secret” is my second-favorite BTS record.
HOWEVER
I've been thinking about it and I have decided “Perfect from Now On” is the most cohesive statement the band ever made and, certainly, the most thematic of its records.
They did a great job of nailing Perfect From Now One when I saw them in NY recently. Watch the 3rd lead guitar player with the beard, he is their secret weapon on the wah pedal plus he plays through a weird homemade looking amp. And I have to say it is my favorite BTS record.
That might be the Caustic Resin guy (Bret Netson, I think, but I can never remember). When I saw them on the Perfect From Now On Tour, he was with them and one could realize how crucial he was to the sound of that record. I am always in favor of the 3-guitar assault that BTS employs over the 2 because Doug always does so much overdubbing and/or employs so many guitar players on the records. But seriously, the playing on PFNO is genius .
I saw them play it FOR FREE in PDX one of first shows, early Sept. Jackpot Records gives out passes for MFNW each day. I thought it was perfect at Wonder Ballroom with Britt Daniel opening who played a few songs with Janet Weiss. BtS went straight into Going Against your Mind after album, awesome.
So the BTS show was awesome. They didn't play “Perfect From Now On,” but had a cello player and played a ton of old school: “Stab”, “Car”, “In The Morning”, “The Plan”, “Stop The Show”, “Three Years Ago Today”, “Else”, & more!
