My parents gave us a MiniDV camera for Christmas last year in preparation for the baby. I did my part by switching to Apple’s Mac computing platform and have used Apple’s included iLife suite to create a stream of Maple-related DVD releases for friends and family around the globe.
I shoot a lot of [...]

Bemoaning the Boredom
October 21st, 2004 · Comments
Overheard in the employee cafeteria:
“I’m so beyond caring. I almost negative care. I like to see the wheels fall off, just to see which way the bus rolls over each time.”
“It sucks that the only interesting thing about our careers right now, well, at least mine, is the spectacular disaster everywhere.”
“Oh [...]

Beverage Manifesto
October 15th, 2004 · Comments
Tonx.org delivers a beverage manifesto which I endorse whole-heartedly with limited exception. From this declaration:
I have tried to refine one aspect of my coffee snobbery to its brutal essense – a sharp, solid, crystalline truth that I may use to bludgeon heretics, a mighty sword of coffee righteousness, a chilling fatwa from the [...]Tags: Food and Cooking

Say, for instance, that you work for the second most giant global outsourcing and technology service firm. Also, for hypothetical reasons, assume that you are on the account that services one of the largest telecommunications firms. Okay? You’re in dreamland. You’ve stepped on through to the other side and can now experience [...]

Hands On The Wheel

At a time when the world seems to be spinning hopelessly out of control,
There’s deceivers and believers and old in-betweeners,
That seem to have no place to go.
Well, it’s the same old song, it’s right and it’s wrong,
And living is just something that I do.
And with no place to hide, I looked in your eyes,
And I [...]

Maple in Crib at 1 week
This week, Maple learned so much that when I see this picture of her as a disoriented, helpless infant, she hardly seems like the same baby.
Three days ago, Maple figured out how to get to a toy that is out of her reach, regarless of if she is on [...]

These Times
October 12th, 2004 · Comments
We live through these times
And never change the way we are
We’ve seen through their lies
So don’t ever say it’s one too far
We’ve been to these heights
With open arms and ways to fly
We live through these times
And forever change
Your time was not mine
I traced you down to an untwinned town
We’d laugh all the while
Playing games with [...]

Death of Derrida
October 10th, 2004 · Comments
I’m a little late on the uptake for this, but Derrida is “dead.”http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3729844.stm
Here you’ll find some snarky commentary by people who think they know what Derrida was all about. This is a minor point of annoyance for me. Deconstruction has become synonymous with “analysis.” In other words, people think that deconstructing texts is [...]
