Trying to think of better excuses since 1995

Ear Damage

No wonder I my ears still ring some ten years after seeing Dinosaur Jr. for the last time. Check out the horsepower behind his setup. Be sure to scroll all the way down. The amps just keep on coming.

Being in the front of the audience was like standing in a strong wind created by sound.

I saw Dinosaur Jr a couple of times and during some of his extended guitar solos he would aim his guitar at the audience, as if it was a machine gun. It looked like he was mowing people down. After looking at that monstrous stack of amps, I think he was definitely trying to hurt us.

Did you know that he claims to have been abducted by aliens. Apparantely he doens’t like to talk about it much, but I remember reading an interview in some zine years ago where he ranted about it a little. That explains why he has special powers.

I read somewhere that Mascis likes his amps that loud because he used to be a drummer and wants to be able to “feel” the sound like he did when he played the drums. Or something like that. Take another bong toke, J.

And, might I add that My Bloody Valentine actually surpassed Dino Jr. in volume level at a show I saw in Athens many years ago. The one where most people fled the club when MBV had the freakout feedback thing at the end of their set. It was so. f’ing. loud.
