Taking You To School!

the bus drivers are taking you to school

Friday night’s show at The Earl seemed to go very well. It sounded good from where I was sitting (behind the drum set, with many, many loud speakers pointed at me), and I had a blast playing with my old buddies Paul and Jeff, with whom I have not played a live show since The Mighty Afros in 1997. Michelle of Luigi, Scott of Magnapop and Brandon of, well, a bunch of stuff uniquely Brandon showed up for some awesome special guest appearances. Brandon gets an extra special shout out for figuring out where we were playing since we never told him, making it to the club just in time and then rockin’ some sweet harmonica. Scott gets a special “big playa” for sexy shaker playing and beautiful vocal/guitar work on “Lucille.” As for Michelle, the woman sang for us in Portugese, and did a mighty fine job, so thanks for that.

Additonally, big “props” go to Beth Kargel (of Silent Kids), who organized the show, The Earl and Stomp and Stammer Magazine, for letting us play.

The Earl was packed for the show, with people actually having to be turned away at the door due to “fire codes” or something like that—at least that is what I hear. The positive side to that is that the show raised a bunch of money for charity and, as you know, us Bus Drivers, we’re all about giving back to the community.

The Bus Drivers are already scheming for our next musical adventure, and you can be sure I’ll blab all about it here on Halfass.

I’ve been listening to a live recording of a band I used to be in, Space Crime Quintet, quite a bit lately. It’s nice to be able to listen to something objectively since you’ve been away from it for a…
