Site Launch: Signs of Danger

January 28th, 2004 · No Comments

bitter.net and Halfass proudly announce the launch of:

Signs of Danger

What is it? The answer, from the site:

Don’t you just love those little iconic “achtung” people that illustrate all sorts of consumer product and environmental hazards? Those poor suckers; they pay the price again and again. Some people call that little bastard the “dangerman,” but we just call him unlucky. He’s the worldwide Mister Bill, but sometimes, he’s not a “he” at all. Women, pets, children: all are subjected to figurative mayhem. And now, thanks to the modern miracles of the Interweb, scanners, digital cameras and free time, you can relish in their suffering.

A joint production of Halfass and bitter.net, Signsofdanger began as an idea over 7 years ago and now, thanks to PHP programming wizardry from Adair Systems, it is a reality!

In short, it’s like Mirror Project, but with a different theme. In this case, we invite the audience to submit any funny, interesting, bizarre or even every-day imagery of “warning” iconography and encourage our submitters to tell us the story of their image.

We hope you like it and, if you do, please spread the word via e-mail our your website (you can even trackback ping this, if you’re feeling extra-fancy). We’re hoping to amass the largest collection of such images in the world.
