We all know the horrors of modern American Agro-Industrial farming. We also know that all of the top chefs and best cooks use locally-produced, organic, usually small-scale-produced products. This little Matrix spoof is both educational and entertaining. Check it out and then follow the “shopping” link to find out more about how you can help stop the Agro-Industrial beast and enjoy more healthful and flavorful food.
I started doing some research in Atlanta and found out that Atlanta has one of the largest farmers’ markets in the world, and it’s not Your DeKalb Farmers Market as most would assume, which isn’t really a farmers’ market, but more of a really cool world food market. It is the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Atlanta State Farmers Market.
What is more, I found this amazing and simple chart which indicates the peak (green) and good (yellow) seasons for local Georgia produce.
What’s amazing to me is the fact that what is currently in season is exactly what one craves as fall slips toward winter: delicious, stewy batches of collard or turnip greens with cornbread.

This chart basically tells me I shouldn’t bother eating this or next month. Oh well!
