When The News Owns You

November 7th, 2003 · 1 Comment

This page on CNN.com is almost too difficult to believe, but obviously a product of what happens when the news outlets and the record companies are all owned by the same giant corporation. It reminds me of those magazines one gets as an elementary school student in which all the articles are moral tales and instructive of “doing the right thing” and the testimonials from various third-tier celebrities serve to brainwash children into upright behavior.

Not only does the article inform you that “millions” have deleted all of the MP3s from their computers, probably due to the scare tactics of the RIAA, but if you follow the right column down to the little “highlights” section, you’ll see a testimonial from a child on why he’s stopped using P2P, an article that hints at amnesty, and a spooky tale that servers to illustrate the point that the RIAA is so serious that it will even sue twelve year old children.

After reading this page, don’t you feel really good about not going on the Peer to Peer networks? And doesn’t it make your heart sweel with pride to know you sent all of your MP3 files to the Recycling Bin?
