Just found a really cool site of train-related photography with a page that features a picture of my pops:

My dad worked the same lines for his entire career as a railroader: between Grand Junction, Colorado and Denver, but usually the shorter routes between Grand Junction and Bond or Minturn. As far as being a railroader goes, that is certainly not a crappy assignment. The route is known as one of the most beautiful train routes in the world, and my dad is an expert spotter of wildlife and has seen it all: from bald eagles to bears.

I took this picture of Dwayne Partee. He has since retired. We really miss the likes of him and the other Rio Grande trainmen that are now gone, now that we are Union Pacific. He was one of the last of the real railroaders.
