Now that both AIM and Yahoo! are cut off at the proxies and firewalls, I feel very isolated at work. They sure are making it so that I try to work from home a lot.

I’ve noticed that the only videos they play on MTV/VH1/MuchMusic are either hip hop or pop punk. When did pop punk completely take over the world?
Every time I’m scanning the channels, I see “Arthur” and stop because I’m hoping to see a loveable, alcoholic millionare on his quest for love and laughter. But [...]

European Doomsday?
May 14th, 2003 · 2 Comments
According to this article in the International Herald Tribune, the recently-published “World Trade in the 21st Century” by the Institut Francais des Relations Internationales, spells out a doomsday scenario for European economic power.
From the report:
“The enlargement of the European Union won’t suffice to guarantee parity with the United States,” it says. “The EU will weigh [...]

Today, on an oddity-filled MARTA-train excursion, Chris and I witnessed the following delightful scene:
Withing 100 yards of a MARTA station, a car full of MARTA employees, one half of a block from their office building, parking an official MARTA car in the parking lot of a shitty Mexican restaurant.

Moving!

Halfass.com will be moving to a new host very soon. Expect some freakouts and general unavailability during the coming weeks.
How does this affect you?
site visitors: you should not see any problems, although you may notice some structural and navigational changes. I am probably going to kill the “features” section and migrate [...]

Things I Lost In Iceland

Lost In Iceland:
My blue, knit “A” hat, with which I’ve represented the ATL all over the place.
My wedding ring in that tourist trap to end all tourist traps, The Blue Lagoon. Not only is the place expensive and a racket, it’s also filled with hair loafs, nasty funk and people doing the nasty.*
My [...]

There’s a woman where Chris and I work who comes in every morning, turns on her computer and then leaves until the afternoon. She’s not a manager or anything, so she’s not sprinting off to meetings. We’re not sure why she does this, or even what she does, but we just know that it [...]

PBR the Hot, Happening Beer
May 9th, 2003 · 12 Comments
What we’ve all known for a long time, the rest of the world is just discovering. That is the fact that Pabst Blue Ribbon is the hot, happening beer in the United States.
Attribute it to its cheepness or its fine ingredients or whatever you like, but it’s been an impending, inevitable reality for [...]

Louisiana is its own planet.
Many people go to New Orleans. It’s a cultural force all its own and an amazing city: probably one of the greatest cities in the world. It’s bustling tourism and convention business sustain a steady flow of travelers, and its fairly long list of educational institutions provide the city [...]

My Very Own Friday Five
May 9th, 2003 · No Comments
Since everybody does these Friday Five things, I thought I’d do one too. But I don’t know how to find out the topic, so I’m going to list my five favorite foods:
Rice
Sauce
Dumplings
Boudin from Boudin King, Jennings, Louisiana (say it “boo-dan”)
Tortillas from La Casita, Colorado Springs, Colorado
Honorable mention goes to innumerable little delights I’ve had [...]
