StB and I had a discussion about this: some of it is rather cool. Mashups, the unauthorized splicing of different pieces of songs that, in the best cases, span genres. Example is one DJ or computer-savvy kid whichever, that near-flawlessly spliced Christina (young Cher) Aquilera’s “Genie in a Bottle” vocals over the NYC snottyness of The Strokes’ music. Brilliant!
