I know it sounds cruel, especially around the holidays, but MARTA’s recent decision to cut service before cutting jobs really irks me.

Let’s think about this. The Authority decided to preserve jobs and cut service—so that means there will be a lot of people doing LESS work and the only cost savings will be fixed costs outside of salary (fuel and maintenance, primarily). Hmmmm… sounds very governmental.

Most areas of metro Atlanta are already woefully underserved, and now we can expect even less. Additonally, we can expect our tax burden (MARTA accepts money from the government and other grants and is not a self-sustaining business, as far as I can tell). The piclke they’re in: decreasing revenues despite a recent $.25 fare hike and a board who has voted for something like a 5 year fare freeze. Yikes.

They should probably go up on Fuckedcompany.com.

Yikes.

I imagine that the executives will still receive fat bonuses as well.
